Bruce Randall, The Edge School, Calgary
Paging Dr. Lucien, I recall seeing Lucien in Toronto with you many moons ago and I had the pleasure of being your stagehand and I loved it. You were wonderful that evening as I am sure you have been for all of the other million performances. The words spoken at Convocation introducing you as a symbol of all things real and good are very true indeed. You have always been very real and very good! I listen to CBC Radio a lot whether driving to work or to another hockey/soccer/lacrosse game, at the kitchen table or while at the laptop (probably too much, so say my right-wing Ottawa-hating Calgary buddies) and there are probably a handful of things that I consider truly Canadian by nature: As It Happens Cross Country Check-up Disc Drive Peter Maher (OK he’s not on CBC but he is still the voice of hockey out here) Ideas Quirks and Quarks hearing Lucien on the airwaves I find myself quoting Lucien quite frequently – and I am sure I am probably mis-quoting him but his voice seems so comforting and a constant reminder of home. Angie and Davey are pretty familiar with Lucien – an important part of Canadian arts and letters. Good job my chum …er, Dr Lucien!
